The challenge

Securing the Virtual Machine Backups generated by the Veeam system

The project aimed to secure the backups of the Virtual Machines generated by the Veeam system.

The strategy chosen was "Forward Incremental Backup", i.e. the approach that allows Veeam services to perform a Full Backup starting from the first day of the month and daily incremental backups for the remaining days of the month.

The overall backup strategy therefore included two levels of protection:

  • Daily backup to on-premise local storage via Veeam solution
  • Automated replication of daily backups on the AWS Cloud (AWS S3 Glacier Deep Archive), with files offline
